Nepal 2022 By The Pain Adventure Trust on 30/06/2022 (updated 22/09/2022) In Reports / 0 comments Following an incredibly generous grant, on the 8th of February 2022 I landed in Kathmandu, Nepal, where I would spend the next 3 months. I spent my time volunteering with Raleigh International and their project partner RADO, trekking, and undertaking many other adventurous activities. For 6 weeks I spent my days working on RADO’s WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) projects in rural Makwanpur. I really got to experience Nepali culture and hospitality, as well as continually learning about their different ways of life and the hardships they face, really challenging my personal values. I embarked on 2 incredible treks in Nepal. My first was a long 19 day trek from Gorkha to Pokhara through the Himalayan foothills and their pretty villages, in front of stunning Himalayan backdrops, camping along the way and carrying all our equipment and food. My second was a short 4 day trek to Mardi Himal basecamp (4500m) in the Annapurna region, where I enjoyed being surrounded by massive peaks, the most prominent over the duration of the trek being Machhapuchare (fishtail), and Annapurna South. As well as the trekking and volunteering I enjoyed paragliding, boating and a bungee jump in Pokhara and a 3 day whitewater rafting trip. I would like to say a huge thank you to the Pain Trust for enabling me to embark on this 3 month adventure, which without your support would not have been possible. 13-21
