Applying for a Grant

The Trust provides grants for young people to take part in adventures

Who is eligible

Applicants must:

  • be aged between 10 and 22 on the first day of the expedition/activity
  • have a home address (Use our Postcode Checker):
    • within the area administered by East Devon District Council, or
    • within 8 miles of Exmouth Town Hall (excluding the west of the River Exe)
  • not have started their expedition/activity at the time the application is considered
  • receive the consent of their parent or legal guardian if they are under 18 at the start of the expedition/activity.

What we are unable to support

  • activities which could be considered part of the National Curriculum, including activities week
  • activities which the Trustees consider to be within the responsibility of the Government or Local Authorities
  • activities that do not confirm to current safety legislation
  • the purchase of equipment
  • applicants under the age of 16 who are not under the supervision of an adult
  • retrospective applications
  • top-up payments
  • activities during school term time


How to apply

  • complete the application form, Individual or Group, as appropriate
  • ensure you have completed all sections, including the supporting information
  • applications must be received at least 14 day before a meeting – dates below
  • the Trustees may still ask for more information before a decision can be made
  • all applications must be submitted using our online forms. We no longer accept applications submitted to the Trust by email

Important information

  • we will aim to notify you, by email, the outcome of your application within 14 days of the meeting at which your application has been discussed
  • late applications will be considered at the next meeting, provided the trip has not already started
  • each application will be treated on its own merits based on the information provided
  • the Trustees reserve the right to reject applications without providing an explanation
  • booking confirmation of the expedition/activity will be required as proof before funds can be released (e.g. train or airline ticket)
  • we may ask for a full refund of any grant not used for the purposes outlined in the application, or if the expedition/ activity does not take place 
  • the Trust can accept no responsibility for any aspect of the expedition/activity receiving the grant
  • if your application is successful, the Trustees would love to hear all about you expedition/ activity so please provide a report and any photos we could add to our gallery
